The
Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA)
acquired these three diptychs from the Jigmap Series by Claire Halpin
from the gallery in December 2020. A great honour for both the gallery and the artist Claire Halpin whom we have been representing since 2016. Since joining the gallery, Claire as an artist has contributed an exciting and enthusiastic presence to the gallery and also as a co-curator on a number of exhibitions.
Afghan Tour and Jigmap Iraq were first exhibited part of the artist's solo show
GLOMAR RESPONSE
at the Olivier Cornet Gallery in 2016. They also featured in
38th EVA International, Ireland’s Biennial
in 2018 exhibited spectacularly at Limerick City Gallery, selected by Inti Guerrero, while Yeoman Yemen was the centrepiece of the artist's solo show
RAW WAR
at the Olivier Cornet Gallery in 2019. This show constituted a milestone exhibition in Claire’s career as it offered viewers a comprehensive survey of the artist’s attempt to navigate the complexity of the contemporary theatre of war.
"I am absolutely delighted about the selection of my work for acquisition for IMMA’s Collection - both personally and professionally it is an honour to have my work included in IMMA’s Collection - amongst the many great artworks and artists. For any artist to receive the acknowledgement, affirmation and support of their work by a national cultural institution is hugely important in their career, and for me for the Jigmap Series represents a significant body of work and development in my practice – knowing that the significance of this work has been recognised and will be exhibited at IMMA and brought to a wider audience for many years to come makes me happy and proud."

Addendum, November 2021:
Both the artist and the gallery are very proud that 'Jigmap Iraq' and 'Yeoman Yemen' have been selected for inclusion in IMMA's exhibition "Chapter Four: The Narrow Gate of the Here and Now: Protest and Conflict".
"The Narrow Gate of the Here-and-Now, IMMA: 30 Years of the Global Contemporary" is a museum-wide exhibition showcasing the IMMA Collection and the history of the museum since 1991.
The final chapter of this four-part group show takes the IMMA Collection as a starting point to explore how artists have worked to subvert power and use art as a conduit for civil disobedience. This exhibition celebrates the contributions artists have made to protest as an act of resistance and assertion.
The final chapter of the exhibition opened on 19 November, 2021 and runs until November 2022.
