In October 2022, we introduced a new initiative by asking our interns and volunteers to take a closer look at their favourite artworks in the storage area and write about them. One of the criteria is that these works should be available for purchase at the time. Check out which ones still are.
An exhibition titled 'My Favourite Artwork at the Olivier Cornet' took place at the gallery from 13 July to 7 September 2023. It featured all the works reviewed until then.
The artworks in this exhibition were by:
Annika Berglund, Hugh Cummins, Gerald Davis, Mary A. Fitzgerald, Jordi Forniés, Conrad Frankel, David Fox, Nickie Hayden, Eoin Mac Lochlainn, Miriam McConnon, Mark Newman, Sheila Naughton, Yanny Petters, Kelly Ratchford, Vicky Smith and Susanne Wawra.
and featured reviews by Lisa Brero, Maisie Greener, Charlotte Lang, Eduardo Pinheiro, Mary Rose Porter, Genevieve Rust, Natalia Sikora, Zoe Thomas, Yeva Veber & Joshua Walls.
The exhibition was mentioned by Penny McCormick in her See and Be Seen: Summer Exhibitions article in The Gloss Magazine (5 July 2023) and by Philip Carton in his What's on Guide, The Business Post (8 July 2023).
The show was also included in Gemma Tipton's article 'Curiosity, gut instinct and a nose for value: the art of curation', The Irish Times (15 August 2023).
It was also mentioned by Niall MacMonagle in his
What Lies Beneath feature on 23 July 2023:
"This exhibition invited art history students to choose and write about individual works from the gallery’s stockroom, including pieces by Miriam McConnon, Conrad Frankel and Nickie Hayden. Each artwork will be accompanied by informed, responsive text".
This series of reviews continues with each new intern and volunteer at the gallery. Scroll down to read the latest review. Most interns at the gallery are art history students.
