About Olivier Cornet and his contemporary art gallery in Dublin

Now based at 3 Great Denmark Street, Dublin (Ireland), the Olivier Cornet art gallery first opened its doors at The Wooden Building in Temple Bar in January 2012 when the independent curator, fine art consultant and artists' agent French-born Olivier Cornet decided to go for a permanent space (having organised and curated exhibitions of Irish-based visual art in various locations under the name Olliart since 2004).

"In May 2013, I was on the move again working in spaces as diverse and versatile as Filmbase or Smock Alley Theatre for instance, while still on the lookout for a base to operate from.

In January 2014, I found a new base at 5 Cavendish Row (at the start of Parnell Square, just opposite the famous Gate Theatre). We would have loved to stay there but with the sale of the building, we had to find new premises.

My gallery is now located at 3 Great Denmark Street, just opposite Belvedere Hotel. We are so pleased to have been able to stay in the area."

About Yanny Petters's 'The plants we played with'

This area, located at the top of O'Connell Street, is also known as the literary quarter and it is home to Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, The Dublin Writers Museum, The Irish Writers' Centre, The Garden of Remembrance, The James Joyce Centre, Poetry Ireland and of course the O'Reilly Theatre at Belvedere College, our next door neighbour. On moving to this part of Dublin, the Olivier Cornet Gallery joined the Culture Dublin 1 Group and has been participating in the popular annual Bloomsday Festival.

"To be successful it is essential to know your market in order to develop it and bring the essential entities together with beneficial outcomes for all concerned. Cornet takes this activity to a different level. He has an unshakeable desire to increase interest in the visual arts and facilitate connections with a broad range of arts practices. He starts from the premise that his gallery is part of a local cultural hub which he is actively promoting. Within that space he encourages artistic interaction with a variety of art forms with the intent of fostering creativity. He has also created a very successful online presence and a dynamic social media profile which hugely extends the range and definition of his gallery’s reach."
