450 Euro unframed
600 Euro framed
This print was part of the series of 29 prints created for the exhibition ‘Revelation’ by members of Graphic Studio Dublin and invited artists. The exhibition was shown in the National Gallery of Ireland’s Print Gallery, 9 April - 28 September 2008, and it was lent as a touring show to a number of venues around Ireland and to Reykjavik, Iceland during 2009 and 2010. The artists were encouraged to look at works in the Gallery’s collection for inspiration.
Here is the note by the artist in the catalogue that accompanied the show:
“I was drawn to the Rest on the flight into Egypt by Rembrandt (NGI 215), because of its relevance to my current work. It tells a story of flight and protection. In every age of mythology from prehistoric times to Greek and Roman, and throughout accounts of ancient ritual to modern religious stories, stories of flight and protection have been told. In ancient myths, the sky was male and the earth female. When I looked at Rembrandt’s ‘Flight’, I felt I needed to dissolve the painting’s natural divisions. I blended the sky and earth around a nestling force of life, thus continuing the tradition of re-telling a story to reflect my own truth.”

There are very few copies left of that print (an edition of 40). One is in the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland. We have a couple of them here at the Olivier Cornet Gallery.
