John Fitzsimons

'Foundation III'

Dublin Castle (OPW State Art Collection, Ireland)

John Fitzsimons, 'Foundations III', oil and gold leaf on cotton paper on board, 2012, OPW State Art Collection, Olivier Cornet Gallery
This sumptuous painting by the artist John Fitzsimons was acquired in 2012 by the Office of Public Works (OPW) for the art collection of the Irish State.

It was part of our 2012 Christmas / Winter group show 'AC2' where all works in the exhibition used gold or gold leaf.

This painting hangs in Dublin Castle and featured in their September 2020 Culture Unlocked announcement and also in their wonderful audio project Do you think that’s simple? Try to describe it! (November 2020 - April 2021).

The Contemporary Irish Art Society (CIAS) has recently acquired another work by the artist. Check it out here.
